Eastern Montana river bottom buck. I was shooting one of my new short take down recurves. The bow is 54" and 60#. I was trying out carbon arrows for the first time this year. The arrow was a gold tip traditional with a 4 blade magnus broadhead. Shot recovery was in about 60 yards.

I took this buck in early October on the Milk River in eastern Montana. It's not that he was such a large buck, it was just a nice hunt with beautiful weather. It gave me good memories of hunting with friends. I used the same bow and set-up that I used on the caribou hunt.

Porqupine herd. I shot this Caribou while on a hunt into the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. We just couldn't get a break in the weather. It was 25 degrees below 0, just enough wind to make hunting tough. I was very happy to get this bull with a T.D. longbow and 2018 shafts. I shot a little high and spined him, at least I didn't have to track him.

Once I had made sure that I would not go home skunked, I then had the opportunity to be a little pickier. This is the second bull that I took. It was a much larger bull. I was able to stalk within 20 yards of this bull and made a nice clean one arrow kill. I was using the same bow and arrow set-up as with the first one. This one only made it 40 yards before it toppled over.

In 1997 I had the opportunity to go to Alaska and hunt caribou. This was the first caribou that I had a chance to take, so I did. I didn't want to go home empty handed. I took it with a 62# one-piece longbow, Grenadilla handle with red elm limbs. I used a 2018 aluminum shaft with a Bear Stainless Steel Razor head.

I had been trying for a couple years to get a bobcat and it seemed every time we treed one he was way up in the tree with lots of cover and no shot. This tom had his belly full of packrats and didn't want to climb to the very tip top of the tree. I shot him with a one piece longbow.

I took "Bhudda" the last week in May of 2000. After 30 years of hunting bears in Montana, this is the largest black bear I've ever had my hands on. I have no idea how much he weighed, but it was more than one person could do to role him over. I was about 4 miles in behind a gate on a gated road. I had four other chances to shoot bears that night, I'm glad I held out. I was using a 60" one-piece recurve with 2117 aluminum shafts and Magnus broadhead. The arrow entered at the last rib and exited between the neck and the shoulder. He only went about 100 yards.

Now there's a bear's paw with a Bear's Paw! This was in the spring, middle of May, of 1999. Bear hunting in Montana is strictly a spot and stalk proposition. I was able to sneak within 20 yards of this bear. One shot through his lungs and an 80 yard recovery. He measured approximately 6 ft. I used a 58" take-down recurve with a 64# draw weight, 2117 aluminum shaft with a 125 gr. 4 blade Magnus broadhead.

This is an antelope I took this year. I shot him from about 35 yards away. He didn't travel very far, only about 60 yards before he dropped. He has a little over 14 inch horns. No monster, but not bad.
